Tradeworks had three women attending the Canadian Women’s Foundation ‘National Skills Institute’ last week, June 27-30,  in Toronto. Carol Madsen, Kate Stewart and Arleen Dauncey met with dozens of other women from across the country, women supervising similar employment programs for women.

The CWF funds many innovative programs related to employment, domestic violence and economic justice.  One of the programs that we learned more about is in Edmonton. Women Building Futures is a novel, and powerful program that helps women take control of their lives.

The primary emphasis of the conference was to enable women to share their learning with others. The Institute featured programs that lead to  trades careers and self-employment.  Our Tradeworks women’s programs are models for others and we now have insights and ideas from what is being done elsewhere.
