PIVOT Presents: A Crazy Night of Comedy

PIVOT Legal Society is teaming up with Stand up for Mental Health this winter, for a hysterical fundraising night. If you haven’t heard of them, SMH is a local non-profit that teaches people with mental-illnesses how to write/perform jokes. Participants do shows all over Vancouver, and will be at the Yale on Granville, December 8th to raise money for PIVOT Legal. Buy a ticket today, and get ready to laugh for a good cause!

The Yale is located at 1300 Granville street, doors open at 6:30 PM.

John Furlong, VANOC CEO, personally signing 2010 Winter Games Street Banners

The City of Vancouver donated 800 pairs of Vancouver 2010 street banners to Tradeworks Training Society to help in fundraising for The Fab Shop legacy project, a carpentry training program for at-risk youth, initially launched as a sustainable social initiative created by the 2010 Winter Games. On July 29th, 2010, The Fab Shop held a banner signing event in which John Furlong, VANOC CEO and three Olympian athletes – Kristi Richards, Tom Velisek and Justin Lamoureux, came to sign banners that will be sold online in support of this legacy project. A new fundraiser for B.C. Children’s Hospital might appear slightly macabre on the surface, but organizers of the first annual LifeLid event say the message is a reminder to celebrate life.

A new fundraiser for B.C. Children’s Hospital might appear slightly macabre on the surface, but organizers of the first annual LifeLid event say the message is a reminder to celebrate life.

On June 27, 10 life-size coffin lids designed by 10 B.C. artists will be auctioned off at Winsor Gallery on Granville Street with proceeds going to Children’s Hospital. The event is organized in conjunction with Lululemon owner Chip Wilson’s annual Chip’s Not Dead Yet Memorial Mile fundraiser on behalf of the hospital. (more…)
